Marko Joins Forces with Jos Verstappen & Makes Demands

After the Dutch Grand Prix, Max and Jos Verstappen voiced their concerns about Red Bull Racing’s performance.

Jos believes Christian Horner needs to step up but isn’t confident he will. Just before the weekend started, Helmut Marko shared his thoughts on these strong statements.

Lando Norris won at Zandvoort with a 23-second lead over Max Verstappen. This is a big change since McLaren was previously beaten by Max in other races. Red Bull’s advantage has vanished, putting both Formula 1 world titles at risk.

Marko Reacts to Jos Verstappen’s Comments

In an interview with Krone Zeitung, Marko tried to calm things down. “Jos is Jos. He speaks emotionally without much analysis. But don’t take it too hard,” said the team adviser. “We’ve had some bad results lately and made mistakes. Our set-up at Zandvoort was wrong, and we need to improve with our updates.”

Red Bull Racing is now in crisis mode. Max hasn’t won five races in a row, and Sergio Perez‘s last podium was at the Chinese Grand Prix earlier this season. The RB20 isn’t as good as they hoped.

Marko Also Thinks Horner Should Step Up

While Marko finds Jos’ public comments a bit awkward, he agrees with him. “Horner has to show quality. Hiding problems won’t help us.” This echoes what Jos said: “Not everything has to be covered up.” Can Horner turn things around? “It would surprise me, but right now I say no. A lot needs to change.”

Despite this, Marko remains positive about Red Bull’s leadership. “Even Horner admits mistakes now. We made a wrong turn with the car’s balance, but we’re not alone—Ferrari and Mercedes have had issues too. Only McLaren got it right with every upgrade. We’re self-critical but have good people who can fix this.”

Fans might think it’s time for Red Bull to make some big changes.

Chances of World Championship Title

After the summer break, McLaren closed the gap in the constructors’ championship to just 30 points behind Red Bull. The margin has been shrinking each weekend, making it hard for Red Bull to win their third title in a row. However, Perez’s P6 finish at Zandvoort gives them hope. “If Checo keeps this up, we still have a shot at the title,” concludes Marko.

What do you think? Can Red Bull turn things around?
