Marko Comments on Red Bull Updates After Perez’s Early Exit in SQ2

Helmut Marko is in high spirits after the first day of the United States Grand Prix weekend. The Red Bull Racing advisor shared that the team’s upgrades are performing well, with Verstappen starting the sprint from pole position and Perez beginning from 11th place.

During this sprint weekend in the U.S., teams had just one practice session to get ready for sprint qualifying later on. “After practice, we felt confident about being at the front for a single lap,” Marko mentioned to ServusTV.

Marko’s Thoughts After Day One in Austin

Initially, Marko thought Ferrari would be their main rivals. However, that wasn’t the case. George Russell took second place, while Charles Leclerc was third, and Carlos Sainz found himself starting from fifth.

Predicting the sprint race results is tricky for Marko since there aren’t any comparable times from the lone practice session. Yet, he’s thrilled with how the updated RB20 has performed so far. “This is a very good start,” he noted. “The new parts on the car worked immediately, which is not obvious with only one practice.”

Fans might wonder if these upgrades will keep giving Red Bull an edge throughout the weekend.

What do you think about these changes? Will they help Red Bull stay ahead?
