Lewis Hamilton‘s upcoming Ferrari debut has everyone buzzing – including Ferrari’s top boss, who’s thrilled about the seven-time champ joining the legendary team.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna can’t wait to see Hamilton in the famous red racing suit. And it’s not just about his driving skills.
“There is excitement, there is a great desire to start,” Vigna told Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.
Hamilton’s first test drive in a Ferrari F1 car is happening this week at the team’s Fiorano track. Fans are expected to pack the streets just to catch a glimpse of the British superstar in Ferrari colors.
What really impressed Vigna wasn’t just Hamilton’s racing record – it was something much more personal.
“I loved reading his post on LinkedIn at the start of the year,” Vigna said. “It was a powerful message not to give up hope in all areas.”
That LinkedIn post showed Hamilton’s mindset about his big move. He wrote about “Embracing new opportunities, staying hungry, and driving forward with purpose” in 2025.
At 39, Hamilton’s making one of the boldest moves in F1 history by leaving his comfortable home at Mercedes for a fresh start at Ferrari.
Vigna thinks that’s exactly what makes Hamilton special.
“He has a great desire for change, and he’s not afraid,” Vigna explained. “At forty, he’s put himself back in the game, embracing a culture that’s really different from the Anglo-Saxon one he’s used to.”
The Ferrari boss is especially excited about pairing Hamilton with Charles Leclerc. “With him and Charles we will have fun,” he said. “Someone who has won seven titles can really pass on a lot.”
It’s not just Hamilton’s technical feedback that has Ferrari excited. His experience and winning mentality could be exactly what the Italian team needs to return to the top of Formula 1.
