NFL coach Sean Payton looks up to Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton for inspiration, but Super Bowl dreams fell short.
“We are not interested in being P2. Lewis Hamilton is one of our owners. We are interested in being P1,” Payton told CBS Sports before last Sunday’s crucial game.
The seven-time F1 world champion isn’t just breaking records on the track – he’s also part-owner of the Denver Broncos through the Walter-Penner group.
Unfortunately, the Colorado team couldn’t convert Payton’s championship mindset into a Super Bowl appearance. They lost a nail-biter to the New England Patriots, 10-7.
F1 will still have a presence at this year’s Super Bowl, though.
Cadillac plans to unveil the livery for its first-ever Formula 1 car during halftime – a pretty big moment for American motorsport fans.
## Hamilton hits the track in Barcelona
The Ferrari driver was back behind the wheel this morning at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya during pre-season testing.
It’s the second time this week he’s climbed into the SF-26.
After Tuesday’s initial session, Hamilton seemed upbeat about his new ride.
“Really proud of everyone back at the factory for getting the car to this point,” he said. “We got a lot of information on the car today. We definitely need to keep it up. Lots and lots to do, but a good first day.”
