Lewis Hamilton Rejects Retirement Rumors After Recent F1 Setback

Lewis Hamilton refuses to back down despite tough Brazil weekend

“I back my team. I back myself. I will not give up. Not now, not then, not ever.”

That defiant message from Lewis Hamilton appeared on social media after another difficult race weekend for the Ferrari driver.

The seven-time world champion managed just two points from Brazil after finishing seventh in Saturday’s Sprint.

Sunday’s main event turned disastrous when Hamilton collided with Franco Colapinto on the opening lap, damaging his front wing and floor.

Hamilton took to social media to reflect on the disappointing outcome.

“Brazil. Thank you for all the love, always. In the end, it wasn’t the race we wanted. It’s gutting, especially after some good progress, but we will move on.”

The tough weekend was part of a larger disaster for Ferrari, who scored zero points after Charles Leclerc‘s DNF following the Safety Car restart at Interlagos.

This setback has hurt Ferrari badly in their fight for second place in the constructors’ championship.

Mercedes now sits 36 points ahead of Ferrari with just three races remaining in the season.

Red Bull Racing occupies third place with 366 points, just four ahead of Ferrari’s 362.

## Ferrari President Elkann: “Brazil was a huge disappointment”

As the season enters its final stretch, Ferrari is still searching for its first win of 2025. Hamilton himself hasn’t even managed a podium finish since joining the team.

Ferrari President John Elkann didn’t mince words about the team’s performance while speaking at an event celebrating the partnership between Stellantis and the Italian Olympic Committee.

“We have drivers who need to focus on driving and talk less,” Elkann stated bluntly. “We still have important races ahead, and securing second place in the Constructors’ Championship isn’t impossible.”

He then pointed to Ferrari’s recent success elsewhere as a model to follow.

“This is the most important message coming from Bahrain (where Ferrari won the WEC title): it shows that when Ferrari is a team, we win.”
