Lewis Hamilton celebrated his 41st birthday with a special cake that spelled out “HAPPY BDAY” instead of showing his age. The seven-time world champion shared the photo on his Instagram story on January 7.
Hamilton’s been enjoying his winter break mostly in the United States, taking time away after what was honestly a tough first year with Ferrari.
For the first time in his remarkable career, he didn’t manage to stand on a Grand Prix podium last season.
The British driver opened up to fans with a heartfelt message on Instagram about his time off.
“Another return. I’m incredibly grateful for this break. Time to disconnect, recharge and find a bit of inner peace. Time with family and friends replenishing with rest and good laughs has been everything I needed after a very draining year,” he wrote.
It’s clear Hamilton needed this downtime after making the huge switch to Ferrari, which didn’t go as smoothly as many had expected.
Coming back refreshed might be exactly what he needs to turn things around in the upcoming season.
