Leclerc: “I can’t really give Hamilton advice” as Ferrari adjustment continues
Charles Leclerc admits he’s not in a position to offer teammate Lewis Hamilton much guidance during his challenging first season with Ferrari.
“I don’t really have any advice to give him,” Leclerc told GPblog during media day in Qatar. “It’s certainly a long process.”
The Monegasque driver has been with Ferrari for eight years and acknowledges that Hamilton’s transition remains a work in progress despite his legendary status in the sport.
Leclerc is focused on his own performance rather than coaching a seven-time world champion.
“My job is obviously to maximise whatever I can control, and there are already so many things I’m focused on for myself and the team,” he explained.
He’s trying to make sure his driving style matches what the car needs.
“It’s obviously difficult for me to also spend time advising Lewis, who has achieved a lot more than I ever did,” Leclerc added.
The 28-year-old pointed out that he’s almost forgotten what it’s like to join a new team after spending so long with the Scuderia.
“I’ve been at Ferrari for eight years, so I know how it works, and everything feels very natural. But for Lewis, it’s still kind of new, even after a year.”
It’s not just about learning to drive the car. The entire workflow is different.
“The processes are completely different, the way you have the vision, the team, the way you work, all of that still takes some time to get used to,” Leclerc said.
Hamilton remains positive about Ferrari move
Despite the challenges, Hamilton insists he has no regrets about joining Ferrari.
The 40-year-old isn’t dwelling on his debut season struggles but is already looking ahead to next year.
Hamilton has been particularly impressed by the dedication of the Ferrari staff and the passionate support from the Tifosi fans.
