Lawson Slams McLaren’s Brown: “Don’t Care What He Says”

Liam Lawson isn’t holding back after McLaren CEO Zak Brown questioned Red Bull’s decision to pick him as Max Verstappen‘s teammate. Brown had suggested Yuki Tsunoda would’ve been the better choice, adding pressure to Lawson who already had a tough debut weekend alongside the world champion.

“I couldn’t care less what Zak says, to be honest with you,” Lawson fired back during media day before the Chinese Grand Prix.

“I don’t think I’ve spoken to him, ever, and I haven’t read any social media over the last two weeks.”

Brown had criticized Red Bull following the Australian Grand Prix, claiming the team often makes “strange” driver choices.

The young Kiwi driver seems eager to move past his challenging debut and focus on the upcoming races.

“Always as a driver, if you have a good weekend, sometimes you want to sit on it for a little bit. Then you have a bad weekend, you just want to go racing again. So for me, yes, it’s good.”

Lawson is looking forward to the packed racing schedule ahead, seeing it as valuable experience.

“It’s good to have lots of races at the start of the season. We have a week off after China and then a triple header,” he explained.

With limited time in the car so far, these upcoming races represent crucial development opportunities for the newcomer.

“With how little experience I have with this car, it’s just going to be good to do more weekends to get more comfortable and familiar,” Lawson added.

The pressure will be on as he heads into the Chinese Grand Prix looking to silence critics and prove Red Bull made the right choice.
