Lando Norris Reveals Surprising Strategy Behind His Most Satisfying F1 Victory

Lando Norris just scored his most satisfying F1 win yet, and he’s pretty clear about why it stands out among his nine career victories.

Fresh off his triumph at the Hungarian Grand Prix, the 25-year-old McLaren star couldn’t hide his excitement about what made this particular win so special.

“I think it’s one of the first ones I’ve won in probably this manner,” Norris told reporters after the race.

What made it different? He gambled on an alternate strategy that most drivers weren’t trying—and it actually paid off.

“I’ve not won many races, so most circumstances are still new, but I think it’s the first one where doing a completely alternate strategy to most, giving myself that opportunity, worked out,” he explained.

Unlike some of his previous wins that benefited from lucky breaks, this victory came down to pure strategy and execution.

“Today, there was not really any of that,” Norris said, comparing it to his Miami win where a well-timed Safety Car helped him out.

The risk wasn’t without doubt. Norris admitted he spent most of the second stint wondering if his plan would actually work.

“Honestly, I didn’t really think it was going to work for the majority of that second stint. But with every lap, I kind of gained more confidence that it was going to be closer and closer.”

“It’s a tough strategy to do, but it worked out. That’s the most important thing.”

## Norris vs. Piastri: The McLaren Battle Heats Up

The win couldn’t have come at a better time for Norris.

He’s currently locked in an intense championship fight with teammate Oscar Piastri, with just nine points separating the McLaren drivers.

Norris started the season strong with a win at the Australian Grand Prix but hit a rough patch leading up to Monaco.

Being his own toughest critic, Norris openly admitted to being self-critical during this period.

But something changed after his crash in Canada.

Since that disappointment, he’s been on fire, winning three of the last four races and putting himself firmly back in title contention.

The question now is whether he can maintain this momentum against his increasingly impressive teammate. For McLaren fans, it’s shaping up to be an thrilling battle within the team for the remainder of the season.
