Lando Norris Clinches Driver of the Day Award at Australian Grand Prix

Lando Norris kept his cool through Australia’s tricky conditions, leading almost the entire race except for a brief moment when he pitted for intermediate tires a lap before Max Verstappen. His stellar performance earned him both the race victory and the ‘Driver of the Day’ award.

Those final laps were nail-biters.

Verstappen was pushing hard from behind, but Norris didn’t crack under pressure. He crossed the finish line just under two seconds ahead of his rival—a slim margin after such a long battle.

Fans clearly appreciated Norris’ composure, giving him 20.7% of the Driver of the Day votes.

His teammate Oscar Piastri surprisingly took second place in the voting with 17.2%, despite spinning during the race and only managing to finish ninth.

Alexander Albon impressed everyone by grabbing fifth place for Williams—a huge result for the struggling team. His performance was good enough for third place in the fan vote with 15.9%.

Yuki Tsunoda also caught attention on track but finished fourth in the voting.

Lewis Hamilton rounded out the top five in fan appreciation.

For both Tsunoda and Hamilton, their gamble to stay out on slick tires when rain started falling didn’t pay off in the end. Sometimes racing is about making split-second decisions, and today those calls didn’t work in their favor.
