Kimi Raikkonen Evaluates New Generation of F1 Drivers

A new wave of Formula 1 drivers is on the horizon with Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, and Jack Doohan stepping up.

These young talents have secured spots with top teams, promising an exciting future for the sport.

Raikkonen Finds New Faces ‘Great’

During the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, Raikkonen learned about Antonelli joining Mercedes next year. “Yeah, I heard! When we came here, someone said they announced it,” he shared. Antonelli will join Bearman (Haas) and Doohan (Alpine) in moving from Formula 2 to Formula 1.

“It’s great. A lot of new faces coming next year, a lot of new drivers signed to F1. It’s good for the sport, and it’s also great to have an Italian in the championship. It’s good for everybody, I think,” Raikkonen added.

Raikkonen on Moving to F1 Today: ‘It’s Much Easier’

Raikkonen believes that entering Formula 1 today is simpler compared to the past. “Obviously, these days they have simulators. When I started, there was no simulator; you just jumped in and got going!” he explained, noting how modern technology has made things easier for new drivers.

“I think it’s much easier [to move up to F1], in many ways, now. You can do a lot of testing and get ready. I wish them and all the rest all the best!” he concluded.

Fans might feel excited about this fresh talent joining their favorite teams next season.

Raikkonen began his Formula 1 journey with Sauber in 2001. He won 21 Grand Prix races and clinched the world title in 2007. Notably, he’s Ferrari’s last world champion driver .
