Oscar Piastri, the McLaren driver, had an amusing time trying to drive Jeremy Clarkson’s tractor at Diddly Squat Farm. But that’s not all Clarkson has been up to during the Formula 1 break between the Brazilian and Las Vegas Grands Prix. He also made a surprise visit to the Alpine garage in Enstone, bringing along his homemade beer as a gift after their impressive performance at Interlagos.
The season has been quite challenging for Alpine. Before heading to Sao Paulo, they were ninth in the constructors’ championship. The situation worsened with Renault stopping engine production for them, leading to factory closures and engineer strikes.
Clarkson’s Promise and a Splash of Humor
Things took a turn for the better when Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly secured second and third places in Brazil by nailing their strategy amidst heavy rain. This fantastic result pushed them up to sixth place in the championship standings, potentially earning them $20 million if they maintain this position.
Previously, Clarkson had promised on X (formerly Twitter), “Come on Alpine. I’ll buy you all a pint if you get a podium here,” after Ocon’s success at Monaco Grand Prix. True to his word, he brought his Hawkstone beer to Enstone, just down the road from his farm.
After their success in Sao Paulo, Clarkson tweeted again: “Brilliant work from Alpine in Brazil today. Fantastic result for the Chipping Norton folk.” He arrived with more beer gifts and handed them over to Gasly, almost causing a spill but catching them just in time. “Now that’s what’s called reactions!” Clarkson quipped. With humor, he added some advice for Gasly: “If we want to win a race, drive faster!” Laughter filled the garage as everyone enjoyed the moment.
Fans might think it’s pretty cool how Clarkson keeps his promises and adds fun to F1!
