Former F1 champ Jenson Button is jumping into the world of endurance racing, signing up for the full World Endurance Championship season with Jota’s Cadillac team.
The 2009 Formula 1 world champion will share driving duties with Earl Bamber and Sébastien Bourdais – both seasoned endurance racing veterans. Their biggest challenge? The legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
In Jota’s other car, Norman Nato, Will Stevens, and Alex Lynn will be pushing the limits of their Cadillac hypercar throughout the season.
Team boss Dieter Gass is pretty excited about his driver lineup. "We’ve got six incredibly strong drivers bringing different things to the table," he says. "Some have tons of experience, while others bring fresh perspectives to our Cadillac program."
Getting the right mix wasn’t just about raw speed. The team carefully considered how drivers would work together, looking at everything from personality matches to driving styles.
"We didn’t rush this decision," Gass explains. "It’s about finding the perfect balance in each car. Now we can’t wait to see what both teams can do when we hit the track."
Button and his teammates won’t have to wait long to test their new ride. They’ll get their first real taste of action during the official prologue test in Qatar on February 21-22.
Just a week later, they’ll be back at the Losail International Circuit for the season opener, marking Button’s first full-season return to top-level racing since his F1 days.
The move marks another exciting chapter for Button, who’s been keeping busy since leaving F1. From Super GT in Japan to one-off NASCAR appearances, he’s shown he’s not done pushing the limits of what’s possible behind the wheel.
