Is Wolff Hinting at Red Bull? ‘Negative Trend Seen in Other Teams’

Mercedes lost a celebrated one-two finish at the Belgian Grand Prix. George Russell won’t be remembered as the winner at Spa-Francorchamps in 2024; that honor goes to Lewis Hamilton.

Despite Russell’s disqualification, Toto Wolff reflected positively on recent weeks. “There’s swings of performance, we see a trend which is definitely positive on our side. With some other teams, we see a negative trend. But I don’t think we should really pre-empt how the second half of the season will go. It’s a tough fight. There are four teams ahead. They’re giving it everything. So I think we can be carefully optimistic. There’s ten races to go,” Wolff said.

Mercedes Unrecognizable After Friday at Spa

This season, Mercedes has shown impressive car development skills. However, Friday at Spa was rough for them, especially with their new W-15 floor introduction not working well initially. By race day, all issues seemed resolved.

Wolff explained the drastic changes made to recover performance: “I think we made a drastic change in order to recover some of the performance,” he said, adding that it wasn’t just about the new floor design but also understanding how different parts interact mechanically and aerodynamically.

Fans might feel hopeful about Mercedes’ future performances given these adjustments and insights.

The unpredictability of car mechanics and aerodynamics keeps everyone on their toes!

What do you think about Mercedes’ chances for the rest of the season?
