Lando Norris has to make every race count if he wants to win the Formula 1 World Championship this season. He must not only outpace Max Verstappen but also fend off fierce competition from Ferrari, especially after the United States Grand Prix.
With five races left, Norris is trailing by 57 points. To catch up, he needs to gain more than 11 points per race weekend. This means finishing as high as possible in each race. In the last Grand Prix, Ferrari dominated with a one-two finish.
Ferrari’s Strong Performance
Charles Leclerc took control of the US Grand Prix right from the start, leading the pack. Carlos Sainz secured second place, helping Ferrari earn more points than any other team that weekend. They left COTA just eight points behind Red Bull and 48 points behind McLaren.
Before the Mexico race weekend, when asked about Ferrari’s strong showing in Austin, Norris said it’s not a worry for him. “It’s not worrying. They’ve been there for a long time this year,” he mentioned. He added that people often underestimate teams like Red Bull and Ferrari, but they’ve been consistent all season. “They were just very good last weekend,” he continued. “Try to use it as a positive and help get a bigger gap between what myself and Max will be achieving.”
Fans might wonder if Norris can really close the gap with such strong rivals on his tail.
As we look ahead, do you think Lando can catch up and take the lead?
