Ayrton Senna’s famous McLaren MP4/5B will take a special lap at Interlagos during the Brazilian Grand Prix to honor 30 years since his incredible Formula 1 legacy began.
Honda and McLaren are bringing Senna’s original car from 1990 to the Brazilian GP as part of the SENNA SEMPRE (SENNA FOREVER) celebration. The driver for this memorable lap hasn’t been announced yet, but once it circles the track, the MP4/5B will be displayed near the pit garages for everyone to admire. Fans attending are encouraged to wear yellow and green to join in the festivities.
MP4/5B Showrun at Interlagos
Senna’s life was tragically cut short in 1994 at Imola. Over his ten-year career, he achieved three championship titles, secured 65 pole positions, earned more than 600 points, and stood on the podium 80 times with 41 victories. His MP4/5B was part of a powerful partnership between Honda and McLaren that saw them win 44 out of 80 races they entered together. Senna clinched world titles in 1988, 1990, and 1991 with this team.
Earlier this year, McLaren paid tribute to Senna by featuring a livery inspired by him during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend—a race he won six times! Fans might think it’s wonderful to see such tributes keeping his memory alive.
