Max Verstappen is the “boss who rules” in Formula 1, according to Nico Hulkenberg, who’s clearly impressed by the Red Bull driver after his commanding win at the Circuit of the Americas.
“He’s currently the boss who rules everyone,” Hulkenberg told Viaplay.
The veteran German driver couldn’t hide his admiration for Verstappen, calling his recent performance surge “simply incredible” as the Dutchman fights to secure his fourth world title.
“He has shown his class again. It’s simply incredible what he and Red Bull are achieving. He’s showing that he’s a four-time world champion, that he’s currently the boss who rules everyone.”
Verstappen dominated the entire weekend at the United States Grand Prix. He grabbed pole position and then converted it into victories in both the Sprint race and Sunday’s main event.
The win helped Verstappen close the gap at the top of the drivers’ standings to just 40 points, with five races still left this season.
That’s a pretty significant turnaround considering how much he was struggling earlier in the year.
## Mercedes boss joins the praise
Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, also had nothing but good things to say about Verstappen after the race.
The 53-year-old Mercedes boss told GPblog how impressed he was with the Dutchman’s current level of performance.
Wolff explained that both Verstappen and Red Bull have turned things around dramatically since the summer break. He doesn’t think any driver on the current grid can match what Verstappen is doing right now.
Formula 1 analyst Peter Windsor agrees, naming Verstappen his “driver of the weekend” at the United States Grand Prix.
It’s becoming harder and harder to argue against Verstappen being the most complete driver on the grid.
