A fresh war of words has erupted between F1’s most outspoken team bosses, with Christian Horner firing back at Toto Wolff’s bizarre "terrier" jab ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The drama kicked off last weekend in Qatar when Max Verstappen and George Russell got into a heated exchange that’s now pulled their team bosses into the fray.
"I’d rather be a terrier than a wolf," Horner shot back after Wolff called him weak and compared him to a yapping dog.
It’s just the latest chapter in F1’s most explosive rivalry between the Red Bull and Mercedes bosses.
The whole thing started when Russell and Verstappen clashed at the Losail International Circuit. What began as an on-track incident quickly spiraled into a war of words that’s still going strong.
"Max does nothing but tell the truth. I believe 100 percent what he said," Horner declared, backing his star driver’s version of events.
But there’s more to the story. According to Horner, others in the stewards’ room were "quite surprised" by how things played out during the official review.
When pressed about Wolff’s "weak" comment, Horner took the high road – sort of.
"Everybody manages themselves and their teams in different ways," he said. Then he couldn’t resist adding a subtle dig: "We’ve won 122 races and 14 world championships. I think we’re doing all right."
The timing couldn’t be more dramatic, with both teams heading into the season finale at Abu Dhabi this weekend. Mercedes is fighting to hold onto second place in the constructors’ championship, while Red Bull has already wrapped up both titles in dominant fashion.
