Horner Discusses Potential Perez Exit: ‘Today’s Events Won’t Affect It’

Christian Horner watched McLaren close in on Red Bull at the Belgian Grand Prix.

After the race at Spa-Francorchamps, he shared his thoughts on Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez‘s performances.

Race Results and Performances:

Verstappen made several overtakes and used an undercut strategy on Lando Norris to finish fifth, increasing his lead in the World Championship. “I thought Max drove a good race from 11th to 5th, finishing ahead of his nearest championship rival, so extending his lead there,” Horner said. He added about Perez, “For Checo, obviously second to 8th, but with fastest lap, we need to have a good look at that.”

Fans might think this news is both exciting and worrying for the team.

Speculation Around Perez:

Questions about Perez’s performance arose due to his recent struggles. When asked if today’s race would affect Perez’s future with the team, Horner replied, “No today won’t impact anything. We need both cars scoring.” He emphasized that McLaren gained seven or eight points in the constructors’ standings and stressed the importance of bouncing back after the summer break. “Yesterday was great in qualifying. Unfortunately, today hasn’t quite worked out,” he concluded.

What do you think about their chances after the break?
