Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari in 2025 is bringing big changes to his race day setup, including a new voice in his ear during races. After 12 years of hearing Peter “Bono” Bonnington’s familiar voice over the radio, Hamilton’s getting ready for a fresh start.
Word is, he’ll be working with Riccardo Adami at Ferrari. Adami’s no rookie – he’s currently Carlos Sainz‘s race engineer and previously worked with Sebastian Vettel.
It’s a pretty significant change for Hamilton. His partnership with Bonnington at Mercedes was one of the longest and most successful in F1 history, but Bono’s staying put to work with young talent Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Adami brings serious experience to the table. He’s been in F1 since 2002, starting with Minardi (now known as Racing Bulls) before making his way to Ferrari in 2015.
But Hamilton’s not walking into Ferrari alone. He’s bringing his trusted team – the photographers, trainers, security folks, and PR people who’ve been with him through thick and thin. Former driver Marc Hynes, a key behind-the-scenes player in Hamilton’s operation, is coming along too.
There’ll be some familiar faces waiting for him in Maranello. Team boss Fred Vasseur goes way back with Hamilton – they won the GP2 championship together at ART. Plus, he’ll see some recent Mercedes transplants: Loic Serra, who’s handling chassis performance, and Jerome D’Ambrosio, who’s stepped in as Deputy Team Principal.
It’s shaping up to be an interesting mix of old and new as Hamilton starts this next chapter in red.
