Hamilton Thrilled About “Most Exciting” Ferrari Chapter Ahead

Lewis Hamilton can’t wait to hit the track with Ferrari, but he’s keeping expectations in check as he prepares for his first race with the legendary Italian team.

The seven-time world champion was all smiles when asked about his confidence in the new car ahead of this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

“I definitely feel good after the first few days,” Hamilton said with a laugh. “We’ve only had three days in the car, so it’s hard to know where we stand compared to everyone else.”

He’s trying not to get caught up in comparisons just yet.

“We’re just keeping our heads down and focusing on our job. Carlos was incredibly quick. Kimi was really fast too. It looks like it’s gonna be close between us all.”

The anticipation has been building for months.

“I’ve been just itching to get going,” Hamilton admitted. “It’s been a long time coming, and to think this is my first Grand Prix with the team… I’m very honored and grateful to have the opportunity.”

His move to Ferrari is arguably the biggest driver switch in Formula 1 history, ending a 12-year partnership with Mercedes that produced six of his world championships.

Despite the massive change, Hamilton remains confident in his abilities.

“I know what I can bring. I know I can deliver. I know what it’s going to take to do that,” he said. “It’s just about getting your head down and working away. I come with a very open mind.”

## Adjusting to Ferrari power

The transition hasn’t been without challenges. After winning 105 Grands Prix with Mercedes power, the Ferrari engine feels noticeably different.

“I’m still learning this new car that’s quite different from what I’ve driven throughout my previous career,” Hamilton explained. “Going from Mercedes power to Ferrari power is something quite new – different vibrations, different feel, different ways of working.”

It’s not just the car that’s different.

“The whole team works completely differently,” he added.

Despite these adjustments, Hamilton is embracing the challenge with enthusiasm.

“I’m looking at things from a completely different perspective, which makes it exciting and challenging. This is the most exciting period of my life, and I’m really just enjoying it.”

The stakes couldn’t be higher. At Ferrari, Hamilton is chasing that elusive eighth world title that would break his tie with Michael Schumacher and make him the most decorated driver in F1 history.

The timing could be perfect for both parties. Ferrari has been waiting for a driver’s championship since Kimi Räikkönen’s triumph in 2007 and a constructors’ title since 2008.

Hamilton’s first official laps in Ferrari red begin tomorrow.
