Lewis Hamilton is really mad at himself after the Italian Grand Prix qualifying. He got P6 on the grid for Sunday’s race but thinks he should’ve done better.
Hamilton will start from sixth, while his teammate George Russell will be in third. Russell will chase the McLaren drivers, and Hamilton has to deal with Ferrari cars and keep Verstappen behind him.
Hamilton Reflects on Qualifying in Italy:
“Furious. Absolutely furious,” Hamilton said on Sky Sports. “I think I could have been on the front row, and didn’t do the job. Lost a tenth or two in the first and second corner and the last corner,” he added.
This isn’t the first time he’s been upset about his qualifying results this year. At one point, he even said he wouldn’t qualify ahead of Russell again during his Mercedes career, but he’s proven that wrong a few times now. Still, he wants to do it more often.
“Qualifying has been my weakness and I can’t figure it out,” Hamilton admitted. He plans to move up in positions during the race like he did in the Netherlands when he started 14th but still scored points on Sunday.
Fans might think it’s interesting how hard he is on himself even after all his success.
Hamilton ended with some tough words: “The team deserve better, maybe they will get that with Antonelli.”
