The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix was unforgettable. There were issues at the start, like when loose covers damaged Carlos Sainz‘s Ferrari, and FP2 had to finish without fans late at night. But Sunday’s race was thrilling, with Max Verstappen taking the victory.
Lewis Hamilton didn’t get past seventh place that year, yet he loved racing in such a legendary setting. “One of the cool things is, I feel like I maybe play a tiny role in these races that appear,” he shared. “They’d say, where you want to have a race and I always said Vegas. And all of a sudden some years later we had a race in Vegas.”
Hamilton dreams: From Las Vegas to Rwanda
Hamilton believes lessons were learned after that first race. “I think what happened with the fans and I can’t remember exactly, but it wasn’t the smoothest of weekends, but the race was incredible,” he remarked. He hopes improvements will make future events even better. Dancing under those nightlights felt magical!
Fans might think it’s exciting to imagine how much better future races could be.
Las Vegas gives Hamilton hope for another dream: racing in Africa. “I’ve been talking about Africa, and we’ve got, potentially, Rwanda on the cards, which is amazing,” he said eagerly. “So I just hope it comes in time before I’m gone.” His biggest wish is to race there before he retires.
