Mika Hakkinen believes McLaren is now the best and fastest team on the grid.

In 2023, Red Bull dominated Formula 1 with Verstappen winning 19 races. At the start of 2024, it seemed like Red Bull would continue their dominance. But now, McLaren appears to be the top team. Hakkinen shares his thoughts on McLaren’s rise in motorsport.
“Will they dominate completely? I hope so. Will other teams catch up by upgrading their cars? I don’t think so. McLaren has everything: the drivers, designers, management, and fantastic partners funding them. I don’t see anyone catching them,” said the two-time world champion.

Verstappen’s last win was on June 23 in Spain. Since then, there has been a noticeable shift on the grid. Hakkinen commented, “Now they (McLaren) are the fastest. They are the best team out there and this is the most exciting time in my opinion, to see what is going to happen for the rest of the season.”
