FIA Stewards Announce Verdict on McLaren’s Appeal of Norris’ US GP Penalty

The FIA decided there’s no new proof about what happened between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen at the United States Grand Prix, so McLaren’s appeal is dismissed.

During the last laps in Austin, Norris was closing in on Verstappen because his tires were fresher. But Verstappen defended perfectly, stopping Norris from passing. At turn 12, Norris tried to overtake but ended up off the track, earning a penalty.

Stewards’ Decision on McLaren’s Appeal

McLaren didn’t agree with the penalty given to Norris for going off-track while trying to pass Verstappen. Initially, Andrea Stella said they wouldn’t protest, but they still asked for a review. On Friday, stewards met with Red Bull and McLaren to discuss it. Zak Brown from McLaren wasn’t hopeful about winning, and Christian Horner from Red Bull also doubted McLaren’s chances.

Fans might think this decision is unfair.

In the end, both were right; there wasn’t enough evidence to change anything. So, the penalty stands, keeping Verstappen in third place and Norris in fourth.
