Ferrari’s Vasseur Focuses on Strategy, Not Catching McLaren & Red Bull

Since May, Ferrari has been having a tough time after Charles Leclerc‘s win in Monaco.

They’ve only managed to get on the podium three times since then, in Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. But Fred Vasseur isn’t focused on catching McLaren and Red Bull right now.

Not Focused on Rivals

When asked if Ferrari could catch up to McLaren and Red Bull before the season ends, Vasseur said he wasn’t thinking about it that way. “I’m just trying to do the best, to push on the development, to prepare in the best way for Monza. And then we’ll see what we can get.”

He explained further, “After three races, everyone thought Max would be champion mid-season. Then we won some races and it was McLaren and Mercedes taking turns. Now it’s McLaren again. I hope Ferrari will be back soon. We just have to keep the same approach without predicting where we’ll be in six races.”

“The fight is huge,” he added. “Everyone is pushing hard and bringing upgrades as soon as possible. It will be our turn next week, and this will continue until the end of the season.”

McLaren scored the most points at the Dutch Grand Prix with P1 and P4 finishes. Ferrari wasn’t far behind with Leclerc finishing third and Sainz fifth. The gap between Ferrari and Red Bull at the top is 64 points, with just 34 points separating them from McLaren.

Fans might think it’s still possible for Ferrari to catch up if they keep pushing hard.

The race for points is intense! Everyone’s bringing their A-game every week.

What do you think? Can Ferrari close the gap?
