Ferrari’s Cold Shoulder: Todt Reveals Zero Contact After Exit

Ferrari’s most successful team boss ever hasn’t heard a word from the team since 2021, and he’s not happy about it.

Jean Todt, who led Ferrari through their incredible Michael Schumacher era, says the legendary Italian team has completely ghosted him since he stepped down as FIA president two years ago.

“I’m really puzzled by this,” Todt told La Repubblica. “Especially when you think about all the time I put into that amazing company and everything we achieved together.”

The numbers are staggering: 106 race wins, eight constructors’ titles, and six world championships under his watch.

But it wasn’t always champagne and victory parades. When Todt first walked through Ferrari’s gates in 1993, he found a team in shambles.

“The castle was in ruins,” he says. “Our design team was stuck in Britain, and we had this ancient wind tunnel that was basically useless.”

What happened next was pretty remarkable. Todt built what many consider the greatest Formula 1 team ever assembled.

“Step by step, we turned it into something really special,” he says. “But I didn’t do it alone – I was good at building a team and keeping them together. That’s what made us a dream team.”

His success at Ferrari launched him into an even bigger role. In 2009, Todt took over from Max Mosley as FIA president, running all of global motorsport until Mohammed Ben Sulayem replaced him in 2021.

That’s when the silence began.

“I still talked to some team members after leaving Ferrari,” Todt explains. “But since stepping down from the FIA? Nothing. Not a word.”

The period under Todt remains the most successful chapter in Ferrari’s 75-year racing history. Those 14 combined championships still stand as a record that today’s Ferrari team can only dream about matching.
