Ferrari & Hamilton Face Setbacks: ‘They’ll Be Licking Their Wounds’

Nigel Mansell thinks Ferrari is probably feeling disappointed because Adrian Newey chose not to join them for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Instead, Newey, known as the best designer in F1 history, will start working with Aston Martin in March 2025. The former British F1 driver believes Newey made a wise choice.

Rumors flew around when Newey announced he was leaving Red Bull Racing before the Miami Grand Prix weekend. Many teams were mentioned, but Ferrari seemed like the favorite. There was always excitement about Lewis Hamilton possibly moving to Ferrari, and these rumors just added fuel to the fire.

Newey’s Move to Aston Martin

In the end, though, Ferrari couldn’t bring Newey on board. He found Lawrence Stroll’s project at Aston Martin more appealing. Mansell shared his thoughts with TopOffShoreSportsBooks, saying, “I think it’s a marvellous opportunity for him [Adrian Newey].”

Mansell believes that staying away from Ferrari was smart for Newey. “Going to Aston Martin is so wise because he won’t get caught up in the politics of Ferrari and all the hype there,” Mansell explained. “Ferrari should be licking their wounds a little bit because they should have got him, but all credit to Aston Martin.”

Fans might wonder if this move will change everything for Aston Martin.

Mansell also thinks that what Newey can achieve at Aston Martin might be his greatest work yet. “I think he can turn that team around very quickly,” he said. “Next year they’re going to be even more competitive than what they’ve been this year.”

Interestingly, Red Bull Racing hasn’t been as dominant since Newey decided to leave. Mansell points out that without him, they’ve lost their edge. “And Red Bull, they’ve already just demonstrated without him, they’ve lost their dominance,” he concluded.

What do you think? Is this a game-changer for Aston Martin?
