Leclerc Dampens Ferrari Victory Hopes for Mexico: “Don’t Have the Car”
Charles Leclerc isn’t getting his hopes up about Ferrari’s chances in Mexico. The star driver gave a brutally honest assessment when asked if victory might be possible at the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.
“I don’t think we quite have the car to do so,” he admitted.
Speaking at Circuit of the Americas after the US Grand Prix, Leclerc was thrilled with his own performance but remained realistic about the team’s prospects moving forward.
“I still want to believe we can win a race before the end of the season,” he said. “But again, I think we need to be realistic in our situation.”
His podium finish in Austin marked a bright spot in what has been a challenging season.
“This weekend has been the perfect weekend for the team, and I’ll be surprised if we can achieve anything better until the end of the year.”
It’s been a tough 2025 for the iconic Italian team. After 19 races, Ferrari still hasn’t managed a single victory this season.
The podium in Texas was actually their first top-three finish since the Belgian Grand Prix, highlighting just how difficult things have been for the Maranello outfit.
## Relief Amid Ongoing Pressure
Leclerc’s third-place finish came as a welcome boost amid swirling rumors about Ferrari’s struggles.
The 28-year-old driver acknowledged that the second half of the season has been particularly difficult, with team rumors only adding to the pressure on everyone.
He stressed that the team needs to stay focused on its goals as they head into the final races of the 2025 campaign.
Can Ferrari turn things around in Mexico despite Leclerc’s cautious outlook? The coming weekend will tell if the Scuderia can prove their star driver wrong and finally break their winless streak.
