F1 Manager 2024 Insights: What to Expect from Game Developers

Frontier Developments is launching a new F1 Manager game on July 23.

This year’s game has many new features, and players will step into the role of team principal once again. Before its release, Art Director Matt Dickinson and Executive Producer Stuart Warren shared more about what to expect.

Game Development Insights:

Matt Dickinson explained that their relationship with F1 is strong. They talk to F1 every week and email daily, ensuring all data in the game is accurate. Teams approve all assets, and they stay updated on any issues or changes. “F1 is really passionate about all their products,” said Matt. This close connection helps them create a realistic experience for players.

Stuart Warren added that when designing new features, they often have questions only F1 can answer. Their partners provide feedback to make the game authentic. For example, affiliate drivers’ depth depends on these relationships because teams share information about their affiliates.

Fans might find it interesting how much effort goes into making the game true to life!

When asked about using data for the simulation, Matt mentioned two parts: listening to player feedback from forums like Reddit and their internal vision for the game. They started working on this game even before releasing the last one! “We want this to be the best, most accurate F1 game there is,” he said passionately.

Mechanical failures are a big change this year. Last year’s system was different; now it’s overhauled completely. While failures sound negative, they mix up races in exciting ways—just like real-life unexpected moments in F1 races!

Stuart emphasized balancing these elements so they’re enjoyable but not overdone: “It’s balanced and true to life.”

Driver Ratings:

Creating driver ratings involves refining a process from real-world F1 data. Every bit of information—from staff stats to track conditions—is used wherever possible. This approach ensures accuracy without personal bias since it’s based on actual data.

When asked why new players should try F1 Manager 24:

Matt said it’s perfect for those who dream of being a team principal—building teams and making key decisions.
Stuart added that if you’ve ever disagreed with an F1 race decision while watching TV, this game lets you prove yourself right!

F1 Manager 24 will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox starting July 23 at £29.99/$34.99/€34.99.
