Eddie Jordan is reportedly involved in efforts to bring back the London Irish rugby team. A report from The Times claims that he is working as an investor and adviser for a Northern Ireland-based private equity firm, alongside former rugby players Bobby Skinstad and Andrew Mehrtens.
Jordan’s year has been quite eventful. He played a key role in helping Adrian Newey secure a deal with Aston Martin after Newey decided to leave Red Bull Racing. Starting March 2025, Newey will join Aston Martin to focus on their car development for the 2026 Formula 1 season, collaborating with Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso—two individuals who have longed to work together.
Reviving Rugby Dreams
But that’s not all for Jordan. According to The Times, he’s also part of a group eyeing the purchase of the French rugby club AS Béziers Hérault. This venture is said to be supported by Strangford Capital, where Jordan acts as an investor and adviser.
In another twist, there’s talk of him trying to convince Michael Flatley to invest in reviving London Irish. This team went into administration after the 2022/23 season, joining Worcester Warriors and Wasps as clubs that exited the Gallagher Premiership. Interestingly, the Rugby Football Union is now accepting applications for new teams to enter the Championship.
Fans might wonder if this ambitious plan will succeed or if it’s just another dream.
Jordan’s vision seems inspired by Manchester City’s owners, who manage a network of clubs worldwide. Could this be his blueprint for success? What do you think?
