Discover Why Brown Predicted Lando Norris Would Secure Pole Position in Spain

Since the British Grand Prix in 2023, McLaren has been one of the most reliable teams on the track. Now, in 2024, they are showing their true potential. Lando Norris‘ victory at the Miami Grand Prix showcased what McLaren can achieve this season.

At the Spanish Grand Prix, Norris out-qualified Max Verstappen to grab his second career pole position. Zak Brown called it an “awesome lap.”

Why Brown Knew Norris Would Take Pole

Zak Brown spoke to Sky Sports after qualifying and praised Norris’ performance. He knew that Norris had a real shot at pole position: “That was an awesome lap. I spoke with Lando and Oscar before they went out, and Lando had confidence. He thought he could have a shot at pole.”

Verstappen led Q3 initially, but Norris found the extra speed needed: “In the second session, he had a couple of tenths. I thought that’s a huge gap in today’s world,” said Brown.

Fans might think this is just the beginning of more exciting races ahead!

Brown also mentioned that Sunday’s race could be unpredictable due to weather conditions: “The weather looks iffy tomorrow. Our race pace is strong, but anything can happen.”
