Sergio Perez might lose his spot at Red Bull Racing during the summer break.
Daniel Ricciardo is one of the potential replacements for Perez, and he was asked about it at Spa.
Ricciardo is happy and focusing on himself
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko mentioned that the upcoming Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps will be crucial for Perez’s future. When asked if changes were coming to the team, Ricciardo simply said he didn’t know.
Ricciardo emphasized that he’s concentrating on his own performance. “Just focusing on myself and what I can do. Every race or few races, the narrative changes, and that’s the sport we’re in. Things are happening quickly and just got to try and focus on yourself and get the most out of that,” he said.
Lately, Ricciardo has been performing better than at the start of the season. He’s pleased with this improvement and believes it boosts his chances for a promotion to Red Bull Racing. “Coming into Budapest, I knew it was going to be two important weekends before the break, so I’m trying to do well,” he shared.
“I’m definitely happier now than in the first few races this season,” Ricciardo continued. “I felt good all season but wasn’t quite clicking initially. The last few races have been better, trending in the right direction.”
