Confusion Over Red Bull’s Perez Decision: ‘Drivers Let Go for Less’

Sergio Perez‘s future with Red Bull Racing is uncertain.

With just two races left before the summer break, time is running out for Perez. Robert Doornbos thinks it’s time for him to go.

Recently, rumors have been swirling about a performance clause in Perez’s contract. If he’s more than 100 points behind Max Verstappen, Red Bull might let him go. Right now, the gap is 137 points, which doesn’t look good for Perez.

Doornbos on Perez’s Contract Clause

Doornbos shared his thoughts on Ziggo Sport Race Café and was puzzled by Red Bull’s decision. “Why give him two more races? I mean, I see him tomorrow at Goodwood Festival of Speed. Maybe I need to be careful with my words. There have been drivers dismissed for less,” he said.

Perez brings a lot of sponsorship money to Red Bull, and this has often been highlighted as a reason he’s stayed so long. “The commercial package is too big. If he wasn’t Mexican and didn’t bring those extra millions, he wouldn’t have had this chance for so long,” Doornbos added firmly.

Fans might think it’s unfair that money plays such a big role in these decisions .

What do you think about all this? Should Red Bull keep Perez or let him go?
