Colapinto Unveils His Latest Insights

Franco Colapinto is eyeing his future after the 2024 season, hoping for a spot in Formula 1. Although he stepped into F1 by filling Logan Sargeant‘s shoes at Williams, his current stint will end soon since he doesn’t have a seat lined up for 2025.

Since joining the top tier of racing, Colapinto has been impressive, matching Alex Albon’s pace from his debut at the Italian Grand Prix. He scored significant points in Azerbaijan, finishing P8 and just two seconds behind Albon in P7, marking a successful double points finish for Williams.

Colapinto Faces Uncertain Future

Despite his strong performance, Colapinto’s future in F1 looks shaky. With Carlos Sainz set to join Williams alongside Albon for 2025, there’s no room left for him. The only open seat is at Sauber, but there aren’t many whispers linking him there. Fans might wonder if he’ll get another chance in F1.

In an interview with Autosport, Colapinto expressed hope for a future opportunity with Williams: “I would love to get an opportunity in the future with this team [Williams]. If not, I have no idea about options, but my plan A is to stay in the team. They invested a lot in me since I was in the younger categories, and I’m grateful for all of that.”

For now, he’s focused on finishing strong this season: “I’m trying to do the best I can and focus on myself. The results are starting to come, which is very positive, so let’s see what we can do in the next few races. I think there are good races for us to come.”

While Colapinto isn’t sure about his next steps, returning to F2 could be on the table. MP Motorsport is keen on bringing him back for 2025, as team boss Sander Dorsman mentioned previously.

What do you think? Should Colapinto aim for another F1 chance or consider other paths?
