Cadillac Reveals Special Edition F1 Testing Livery as Countdown Begins

Cadillac reveals sleek testing livery ahead of F1 debut

Cadillac has pulled back the curtain on a striking new test livery for their Formula 1 car just days before hitting the track in Barcelona.

The American luxury brand is calling it a “monochrome design with precision patterns and the Cadillac crest.” They’ve also teased fans that “the countdown to official race livery begins.”

General Motors President Mark Reuss unveiled the special edition design at GM’s new global headquarters in Detroit. It’s a huge moment for Cadillac as they inch closer to their F1 debut.

The eye-catching black and white scheme will only be used during the all-team Shakedown Week in Barcelona from January 26-30. Fans will have to wait until February 8 to see the team’s actual racing colors.

“Our new testing livery celebrates Detroit’s design heritage and the power of the global Cadillac Formula 1 team, while keeping our design secrets under wraps,” Reuss explained.

“The Barcelona test is just the beginning; we can’t wait to share our official race livery with fans around the world next month.”

A livery with a purpose

There’s more to this temporary design than just looks.

The team says they created this bold but disciplined pattern specifically for pre-season development.

According to Cadillac, the monochrome concept creates a striking appearance while serving as a visual anchor across the car.

The geometric pattern runs vertically throughout the race car in alternating gloss and matte finishes. It’s actually a clever way to disguise the car’s bodywork details from competitors while still showcasing the brand’s DNA.

Ready to race

The American-based outfit will compete in Formula 1 for the first time next season with two proven drivers behind the wheel – Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas.

Cadillac recently announced that Zhou Guanyu will join as the team’s reserve driver.

Zhou is already familiar with one of his new teammates, having driven alongside Bottas at Sauber for three seasons between 2022 and 2024.

The Chinese driver previously held the role of reserve driver at Ferrari.
