Brown Claims This Season Surpasses 2021 Verstappen vs. Hamilton Battle

Zak Brown is thrilled that McLaren leads the constructors’ championship in Formula 1.

The American executive is enjoying the success and excitement of this season, calling it even better than the 2021 battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

Brown, who became McLaren Technology Group’s executive director in 2016 and then CEO of McLaren Racing, shared with The Associated Press: “I think this is the best season I can think of ever in Formula 1 since I’ve been here.”

He believes this year surpasses 2021 when Verstappen won his first world title after a thrilling last-lap showdown with Hamilton in Abu Dhabi. “That was mega exciting, but it’s just two guys, two good guys. Now you’ve got four good teams in today’s race,” Brown said.

Four Top Teams in Formula 1

Brown notes that any Grand Prix could have a different winner. “To have four teams that can win any weekend, and (Sergio) Perez was obviously back on form today, eight drivers going into Singapore and we’re going ‘I don’t know which of these four teams might win. I don’t know which of these eight drivers might win,’ I can’t recall Formula 1 having that level of competitiveness.”

Fans might think this unpredictability makes the races more thrilling!

This season’s fierce competition among multiple teams has added an extra layer of excitement to each race.
