The battle for the Constructors’ World Championship is heating up, and McLaren seems to be leading the charge. With just six race weekends left, their drivers are consistently aiming for podium finishes and have built a comfortable lead. But the fight for the drivers’ title is still wide open, as Lando Norris tries to catch Max Verstappen. Mattia Binotto from Sauber believes Verstappen will defend his title.
Binotto’s Predictions and Insights
When asked about the potential champions this season, Binotto confidently stated, “Verstappen the drivers’ title, McLaren the constructors’ title,” in an interview with Corriere della Sera. He thinks Verstappen remains the strongest driver on the grid, even when his car isn’t as powerful as others.

Binotto, who will soon join Audi alongside Jonathan Wheatley, also shared thoughts on McLaren’s progress. He praised their ability to shift the balance of power in racing and noted that current regulations have succeeded in making races more competitive. “There are at least four teams within two tenths of each other,” he remarked.
In discussing Ferrari’s current performance under Frederic Vasseur, Binotto expressed satisfaction but admitted he wouldn’t have brought Lewis Hamilton into the team.
