Barcelona F1 Test: Why 3 Teams Are Skipping the Final Day

Eight teams hit the track on Day 5 of Barcelona testing, while three others sit out

The final day of Formula 1’s first winter test for the 2026 season is now underway at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Eight teams are putting their cars through their paces today: Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Audi, Cadillac, Aston Martin, Haas, and Alpine.

But you might be wondering where the other teams are.

Williams is skipping the Barcelona test completely, as they announced last week. Team boss James Vowles has reassured fans they’ll be ready for the first Bahrain test in February. They’re also planning to complete a filming day before then.

Mercedes and Racing Bulls are missing from today’s action

It’s pretty simple why Mercedes and Racing Bulls aren’t on track today – they’ve used up their allowed testing time.

Teams can only run for a maximum of three days out of the five available in Barcelona. Both teams were already on track Monday, then after taking Tuesday off, they completed sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

That’s their three days done and dusted.
