Azerbaijan GP FP2 Results: Leclerc Tops Perez, Hamilton Secures P3

Charles Leclerc narrowly beat Sergio Perez in the second free practice at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Only 0.006 seconds separated Leclerc and Perez, with Leclerc setting a fast lap on soft tires with just 12 minutes left in FP2. Lewis Hamilton was close behind, just 0.066 seconds off, making the top three drivers very close.

Leclerc’s result was impressive since he crashed in FP1 and missed half of it. Ferrari mechanics fixed his car before FP2, but steering issues forced him to come back for more repairs. Despite this, he managed to be the fastest.

FP2 Results Breakdown:

Carlos Sainz came fourth, followed by Oscar Piastri in fifth, only 0.033 seconds behind Sainz. Max Verstappen finished sixth after a sloppy session where he went straight twice. Rounding out the top ten were Lance Stroll, Nico Hulkenberg, George Russell, and rookie Ollie Bearman.

Lando Norris had a tough time as Pierre Gasly blocked him on his flying lap with soft tires, leaving him in P17. At the end of the session, George Russell had to retire due to an issue after missing most of FP2 because of an engine change.
