Aston Martin Selects Drugovich to Replace Alonso

Aston Martin is giving Felipe Drugovich a chance to drive their 2024 F1 car soon. The team has chosen him for the first practice session in Mexico, where he will step in for Fernando Alonso.

This will be Drugovich’s debut in the AMR24, which he helped develop through simulator work at the team’s Technology Campus. By participating, he partially meets the team’s requirement for a rookie to drive in two FP1s, with another session planned later this year.

Drugovich Looks Forward to Testing His Skills

“I’m really excited to drive the AMR24 for the first time — I’ve been looking forward to it for a while,” said Drugovich. He’s eager to compare his simulator experience with real-life driving. The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is new territory for him; it’s a tricky track with long straights and technical corners. To prepare, he’ll spend extra time on the simulator before FP1.

Fans might wonder how well Drugovich will adapt from virtual practice to actual racing conditions.

The specific practice session later this year remains uncertain, but Abu Dhabi seems like a likely option due to upcoming sprint weekends.

What do you think about Drugovich’s big opportunity?
