Albon Disheartened by Ricciardo’s Departure from Formula 1

Alex Albon feels really sad that Daniel Ricciardo isn’t racing in Formula 1 anymore. The races are starting again after a short break, but Ricciardo won’t be there because Red Bull and Visa Cash App RB let him go after the Singapore Grand Prix.

Daniel began his journey in Formula 1 back in 2011. Over the years, he raced in 257 Grands Prix, snagging 32 podiums and winning eight times. Most of his wins were with Red Bull. Albon joined the Red Bull Junior team in 2012, so he was around when Ricciardo was doing well with them.

Ricciardo had a tough time after leaving Red Bull and Renault. Things didn’t go well for him at McLaren either, and he struggled at AlphaTauri/Visa Cash App RB too. Because of this, he was under a lot of pressure and eventually got replaced after the Singapore race. After nearly 13 years, he’s stepping away from racing—at least for now.

Albon: ‘A true character who will be missed’

After Ricciardo’s exit, many people showed their support online. Fans and other drivers alike expressed how much they’ll miss him. Albon shared his thoughts with Formula1.com, saying, “I really, really like Daniel. I feel like he’s a true character in our sport. I feel like he’s very true to himself as well, and it’s a big loss to see Daniel go.” He added that even though Ricciardo might return someday, he’ll definitely miss him.

Liam Lawson is taking over Ricciardo’s spot alongside Yuki Tsunoda at VCARB for the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix. Lawson filled in for Ricciardo during five races in 2023 when the Australian driver got hurt.

Fans might wonder if this is truly the end or just a pause for Ricciardo.

What do you think about all these changes?
